Not true. The sanctions have no effect on getting spares to a Tupolev.

The Iranians claim that their abysmal safety record is because of western trade sanctions, but they are not doing ANY BETTER with Russian planes, to which no sanctions apply.

Tu-154 is the old workhorse of Aeroflot, outdated but rugged and reliable aircraft.

The blood is on the hands of the incompetents who fly and who service this aircraft. D’Amato has nothing to do with it.

This is what the sanctions against Iran has done. The blood of the passengers is on the hands of former NY congressman Al D’Amato and the Israel lobby who were the prime movers behind the Iran sanctions, and continue to lobby to deprive Iran of access to new planes.
